Basketball Recap: University Takes a Loss

University played a tough match on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by the Hamilton Yankees 74-11. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 864th, while the Yankees are ranked 29th).

Despite the loss, University saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ashley Kelly posted eight points.

Kinidi Curl continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Hamilton, going 12 of 15 en route to 27 points along with five assists and four steals. The dominant performance also gave Curl a new career-high in shooting accuracy (80%). Jade Fort was another key player, going 8 for 10 on her way to 18 points.

University has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 11 of their last 13 games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 4-14 record this season. As for Hamilton, the win (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 19-1.

University didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 34-21 victory against Los Angeles CES on the 3rd. As for Hamilton, they have also already played their next matchup, an 84-19 win against Venice on the 3rd.
