Recap: Moose Lake/Willow River Rebels vs. Hinckley-Finlayson Jaguars
The Moose Lake/Willow River Rebels entered their tilt with the Hinckley-Finlayson Jaguars with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. Moose Lake/Willow River blew past Hinckley-Finlayson 40-19. The result was nothing new for Moose Lake/Willow River, who have now won six matches by 21 points or more so far this season.
When it comes to explaining why Hinckley-Finlayson lost on Tuesday, one person who can't be blamed is Griffin Stiel. Despite the final result, he rushed for 76 yards and two touchdowns, and also picked up 81 receiving yards.
Moose Lake/Willow River's win was their eighth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 8-1. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-9 Greenway/Nashwauk-Keewatin and 1-8 Rush City (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 43.1% over those games). As for Hinckley-Finlayson, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-6.
Moose Lake/Willow River will stay at home for another week and welcome Mesabi East at 2:00 p.m. on October 28th. Mesabi East will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak. Hinckley-Finlayson does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
