Football Game Preview: Covington Lions vs. Slidell Tigers + How To Watch

The Covington Lions will face off against the Slidell Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Covington's defense has only allowed 13.7 points per game this season, so Slidell's offense will have their work cut out for them.

On Friday, Covington lost to Mandeville at home by a 26-9 margin. The contest marked the Lions' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Meanwhile, Slidell beat Fontainebleau 17-7 on Friday.

Covington better keep an eye on Jakwan Jones. He was instrumental in Slidell's win, rushing for 184 yards and one touchdown while picking up 8.0 yards per carry. Jones is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 104 every time he's taken the field this season. Wilbert Ricky Williams was another key player, throwing for 213 yards and one TD.

Slidell was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 231 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 160 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Covington's loss dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Slidell, their win bumped their record up to an identical 4-2.
