Basketball Recap: Lamar Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Alex Williams and Jacob Dunning

Lamar lost against Aspen back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Thunder fell just short of the Skiers by a score of 44-42. The contest marked the Thunder's lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Lamar's loss came despite strong showings from Jacob Dunning and Alex Williams. Dunning posted 14 points, while Williams earned 11 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Chairez, who scored seven points.

Having lost for the first time this season, Lamar fell to 4-1. As for Aspen, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Looking ahead, Lamar will head out to square off against Buena Vista at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The game will give the Thunder their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Aspen, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Peak to Peak at 4:30 p.m. on January 2, 2026.
