Football Recap: Sam Berger and Wesley Parvizi Pace Taft Defense

Taft and Eagle Rock squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Taft had to settle for second. They lost 63-37 to the Eagles. The Toreadors have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

When it comes to explaining why Taft lost, don't look at Nathan Swinson. Despite the final result, he threw for 391 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 75 yards and a pair of TDs on only eight carries. Sammy Peery was in the mix as well, providing the Toreadors with two scores.

Taft didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Sam Berger and Wesley Parvizi.

Eagle Rock's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Melion Busano, who rushed for 170 yards and two TDs on only 15 carries, and also caught a pair of touchdowns. Those 170 rushing yards gave Busano a new career-high. Brandon Camacho did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 198 receiving yards.

Taft's defeat dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Eagle Rock, their victory bumped their record up to 8-3.

Taft does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Eagle Rock, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 16-15 win against Dorsey on the 14th.
