Baseball Recap: Lathrop Malemutes vs. West Valley Wolf Pack
Lathrop extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 11 on Saturday, dropping them down to 0-9. They came up short against the West Valley Wolf Pack, falling 13-0. The shutout was out of character for the Malemutes seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in April.
As for West Valley, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-4-1. With that win, they brought their scoring average up to 6.8 runs per game.
For West Valley's part, Mikko Sunie made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Sunie was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with three runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brayden Witt, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Finn Lindsey was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs.
As of now, neither Lathrop nor West Valley have any future games scheduled.
