Basketball Recap: Five Straight Home Victories for Twentynine Palms

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Twentynine Palms walked away with it. They walked away with a 50-40 win over the Polytechnic Panthers on Thursday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wildcats.

Despite the loss, Polytechnic saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Areni Ohanian went 8-for-17 en route to 20 points along with six boards and five steals. Another player making a difference was Mira Mavis, who posted eight points in addition to six rebounds and three steals.

Twentynine Palms' victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 22-4. As for Polytechnic, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-7.

Coming up, Twentynine Palms will square off against Ramona at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Ramona will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Twentynine Palms surely won't give up without a fight. Polytechnic does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
