Baseball Recap: Petal Victorious

On Thursday Petal's undefeated season almost came to an end. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Madison Central Jaguars 8-6. Eight seems to be a good number for the Panthers as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Fischer Howell was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Dawson Dykess, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Petal hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive contests.

Petal's record is now 5-0. As for Madison Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.

Coming up, Petal will challenge Warren Central at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Vikings have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season. As for Madison Central, they will take on Lewisburg at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
