Softball Recap: Chaparral Extends Winning Streak to Three

Chaparral waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured an 8-7 W against Varsity Opponent.

Grace Carpenter spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up ten Ks.

At the plate, Chaparral let Stevie Alvarado and Evie Smith run wild. Alvarado got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and two runs, while Smith went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. Those four hits gave Smith a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brooklyn Karjala, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Chaparral's win bumped their record up to 3-1.

Chaparral has already played their next game, a 14-1 defeat against Harris County on the 23rd. As for Varsity Opponent, they will challenge Fountain-Fort Carson at 11:00 a.m. on Friday.
