Baseball Game Preview: New Hampstead Phoenix vs. Benedictine Cadets

New Hampstead is on a six-game streak of home losses, and Benedictine a seven-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Tuesday. The New Hampstead Phoenix will welcome the Benedictine Cadets at 4:00 p.m. New Hampstead will be strutting in after a win while Benedictine will be coming in after a loss.

Having struggled with 13 defeats in a row, New Hampstead turned things around against The Habersham School on Monday. They put the hurt on the Patriots with a sharp 11-5 victory. The high-scoring effort was just what the Phoenix needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

Cameron Hunt tossed a big game, tossing 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits.

On the hitting side, Gage Foskey was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of New Hampstead's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-13 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of RaShawn Truell, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

New Hampstead lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Benedictine came up short against Ware County on Thursday and fell 7-4.

New Hampstead's win bumped their record up to 6-13. As for Benedictine, their loss dropped their record down to 12-15.
