Basketball Recap: Shannen Wilson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Canyon over Oakwood

Canyon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 67-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Oakwood Owls.

Canyon lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Shannen Wilson, who went 8 for 18 on her way to 22 points and five rebounds. With that strong performance, Wilson is now averaging an impressive 15.8 points per game. Jasmine Williams was another key player, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds.

Canyon's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Oakwood, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-3.

Canyon won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Golden Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Canyon is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.9 points per game this season. As for Oakwood, they also won't have to wait long for more action: they'll take on Palisades at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Oakwood has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
