Basketball Recap: Chowchilla Find Success

Chowchilla hadn't done well against Washington Union recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Chowchilla Tribe escaped with a win against the Washington Union Panthers by the margin of a single free throw, 32-31. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 37-33 last Tuesday.

Washington Union's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jade Holland, who posted 12 points. That was a full 38.7% of Washington Union's points, marking the third time in a row she's had more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Janae Barlow, who earned ten points.

Chowchilla has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.0 points per game. As for Washington Union, their defeat was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-9.

Chowchilla wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 32-26 loss against Firebaugh on the 21st. As for Washington Union, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 47-14 victory against Dos Palos on the 21st.
