Football Game Preview: Valley Center Hornets vs. Andover Central Jaguars + How To Watch

Valley Center is 1-7 against Andover Central since September of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Hornets will square off against the Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Valley Center lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Maize South, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Friday's matchup. The Hornets put the hurt on the Mavericks with a sharp 35-14 victory on Friday.

Valley Center got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Connor Thatcher out in front who threw for 291 yards and four TDs while completing 94.4% of his passes, and also punched in one touchdown on the ground. Those 291 passing yards gave Thatcher a new career-high. Spencer Crumrine was Thatcher's top target, picking up 157 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Meanwhile, Andover Central got the win against Arkansas City on Friday by a conclusive 35-14. The victory continues a trend for the Jaguars in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won five in a row.

Valley Center better keep an eye on Jaxson Green. He was instrumental in Andover Central's win, rushing for 180 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 10.0 yards per carry. Green was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 59 yards. Cooper Mason also helped with two TDs in total.

Special teams played a big role in the game for Andover Central, adding 11 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Mason, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

One reason for the win was Andover Central's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. In that department, Brenton Findley was the leader with three.

Andover Central now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Valley Center, they now also have a winning record of 2-1.

Valley Center suffered a grim 24-0 defeat to Andover Central in their previous meeting back in September of 2024. Can the Hornets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
