Softball Recap: Palisade's Loss Ends Four-Game Winning Streak on the Road

Palisade dropped to 12-7 on Wednesday, ending the team's four-game streak of wins on the road. They fell just short of the Fruita Monument Wildcats by a score of 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Bulldogs have suffered since September 16th.

As for Fruita Monument, the victory was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 15-3. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games.

For Fruita Monument's part, Teagan Clements spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up seven Ks. Clements has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Lauren Englehart, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Palisade beat Fruita Monument by a score of 7-6 later that day.
