Baseball Recap: Scholars Guild Academy Makes It Four in a Row on the Road

Victory Baptist typically has all the answers at home, but on Monday Scholars Guild Academy proved too difficult a challenge. They were the clear victors by a 10-4 margin over the Warrior. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won ten contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Jacob Chupp made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up four earned runs off eight hits. Chupp was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played.

In other batting news, Scholars Guild Academy let Justin Whitfield and Will Pittman run wild. Whitfield scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4, while Pittman scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases Pittman has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Sebastian Kenny, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Scholars Guild Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .524. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher in six consecutive games.

Scholars Guild Academy pushed their record up to 15-7 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Victory Baptist, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-6.

Coming up, Scholars Guild Academy will welcome Skipstone Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Victory Baptist, they are taking a road trip to challenge Central Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Crusaders will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Warrior surely won't give up without a fight.
