Basketball Recap: Knight Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Asha Fudge and Beautiful Mcbride

After flying high against Sultana on Wednesday, Knight came back down to earth. The Knight Hawks fell 51-44 to the Quartz Hill Royals on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Hawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 671st, while the Royals are ranked 324th).

Beautiful Mcbride and Asha Fudge certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Mcbride dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 boards, while Fudge dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 boards. With that strong performance, Fudge is now averaging an impressive 8.1 rebounds per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Zaria Anderson, who posted four points and eight rebounds.

Even though they lost, Knight smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive boards in seven consecutive matches.

Knight's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-4. As for Quartz Hill, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season.

It'll be Battle of the Birds when the Knight Hawks take on the Lancaster Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Lancaster will roll in looking for their 11th straight victory, something Knight surely won't give up without a fight. As for Quartz Hill, they will be playing at home against Eastside at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Quartz Hill is facing Eastside at the right time seeing as Eastside is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
