Baseball Recap: Southeast Whitfield County Takes a Loss

Southeast Whitfield County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 7-2 to the Hiram Hornets. The Raiders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Hornets apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2021.

Ethan Hampton put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. What's more, he gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in hits.

Hampton wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Noah Singleton, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. That stolen base marked the first that Singleton snagged this season.

Southeast Whitfield County's loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Hiram, they moved to 6-4 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

While Southeast Whitfield County had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
