It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Augusta Christian ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They had just enough and edged out the Cardinal Newman Cardinals 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Lions have posted since February 17th.

Augusta Christian's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Charlie Davis, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI. That's the most hits Davis has posted since back in April of 2024.

The win made it two in a row for Augusta Christian and bumps their season record up to 6-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Cardinal Newman, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-4.

Looking ahead, Augusta Christian will square off against Fox Creek at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Cardinal Newman, they will take on White Knoll at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
