Baseball Game Preview: Routt Catholic Rockets vs. Liberty Eagles

Routt Catholic is 7-1 against Liberty since April of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Rockets will take on the Eagles at 3:45 p.m. Routt Catholic is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.

Routt Catholic had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt Pittsfield on Wednesday. The Rockets blew past the Saukees 9-3. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Brady Turner was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, earning two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bryson Mossman, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. Routt Catholic is undefeated when Mossman posts two or more runs, but 6-10 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Kale Reich, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Liberty, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 win over Palmyra on Monday.

Liberty now has a winning record of 8-7-1. As for Routt Catholic, their record now sits at 16-10.
