Softball Recap: Northridge Gets the Win

Northridge won the last time they faced Timnath and things went their way on Thursday too. The Grizzlies came out on top against the Cubs by a score of 7-2. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Grizzlies.

Brooke Riofrio spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Bo Tellez, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Noelle Rodriguez was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Northridge kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Northridge's record now sits at 11-8. As for Timnath, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-13-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northridge will take on Thompson Valley at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.18 runs per game on average), something the Grizzlies will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Timnath, they will square off against Wellington at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Eagles will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.
