St. Augustine is a perfect 3-0 against Clay since October of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. After each having a week off, the two teams will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:00 p.m. St. Augustine is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
St. Augustine's offense will try to repeat the strong performance it gave last Friday, when they got past Columbia's usually-dominant defense. The Yellow Jackets were the clear victors by a 41-21 margin over the Tigers. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Yellow Jackets just coasted through the last quarter.

St. Augustine's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Somourian Wingo led the charge by picking up 151 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns, while also punching in one score on the ground. With that strong performance, Wingo is now averaging an impressive 101.4 receiving yards per game. Durell Preston handled things on the ground, rushing for 104 yards and two rushing touchdowns.
St. Augustine's run defense was locked in: Columbia could only muster 1.2 yards per carry. The team can thank Mason Beane for the heroic effort on defense: he. St. Augustine's ground attack was stronger, having averaged 5.2.
St. Augustine's defense didn't let Xavier Collins, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for six sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Beane, Damien Spivey, and Brandon Whitfield Jr, who each picked up 1.5 sacks apiece. Beane was another major factor on D, picking up 1.5 sacks and making 15 total tackles (2.0 for loss).
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Clay, who bounced back after a loss on the road back in September. They strolled past Ridgeview with points to spare last Friday, taking the game 27-13.
St. Augustine better keep an eye on Landon Martin. He was instrumental in Clay's win, throwing for 202 yards and three TDs on only 16 passes, while also rushing for 93 yards and one touchdown. That's the most passing yards Martin has posted since back in September of 2024. MiKeise Battle was Martin's top target, picking up 119 receiving yards and one score.
St. Augustine's record is now 6-0. As for Clay, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-5.
Everything came up roses for St. Augustine against Clay when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 56-6 win. In that game, the Yellow Jackets amassed a halftime lead of 49-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
