Basketball Recap: Justin-Siena's loss ends seven-game winning streak at home

Basketball Recap: Justin-Siena Braves vs. Sonoma Valley Dragons

It was a good run, but the Justin-Siena Braves unfortunately witnessed the end of their 12-game winning streak on Tuesday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 36-35 to Sonoma Valley. Justin-Siena was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Dragons apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.

Despite the defeat, Justin-Siena saw an underclassman step up: Lauren Keller scored 15 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Keller hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Sophia Dominici, who scored five points along with seven rebounds and three steals.

Justin-Siena's loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 20-4. As for Sonoma Valley, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season.

Justin-Siena will head out on the road to challenge the Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Petaluma will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 479th, while the Braves are ranked 130th). As for Sonoma Valley, they will be playing at home against the Gauchos at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Casa Grande is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
