The Rangeview Raiders will head out to challenge the Northfield Nighthawks at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Rangeview has given up an average of 14 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Rangeview lost 17-5 to Denver East on Friday.
Diana Esquivel was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Jimena Vasquez, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Northfield waltzed into their game on Saturday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over the Knights. Considering the Nighthawks have won 15 matchups by more than eight runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Audrina Srichabok was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with six stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI. Those six stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Sydney Hurley was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Northfield always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .594. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fairview only posted an OBP of .444.
Northfield's win bumped their record up to 16-5. As for Rangeview, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-16-1 record this season.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Rangeview hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .322. However, it's not like Northfield struggles in that department as they've averaged .414. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Rangeview suffered a grim 11-0 defeat to Northfield when the teams last played back in September. Can the Raiders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
