Football Recap: Dynamic Duo of Mekhi Prather and Devin Echard Lead Westlake to Victory + How To Watch

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Westlake ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They secured a 30-24 W over the Great Mills Hornets. The win almost wasn't to be: the Wolverines were down 17-0 in the second quarter.

A big part of Westlake's victory came down to the chemistry between Devin Echard and his top target Mekhi Prather. Echard rushed for 40 yards and two touchdowns while Prather gained 67 total yards and a touchdown.

Westlake didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Prather, Tye Powell, and Andrew Herron picked up one apiece. Another thorn in Great Mills' side was Amari Jones-Compton, who picked up a sack, forced one fumble, and made five total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Great Mills lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Cam Brooks, who picked up 105 receiving yards and one TD. Isaac Deleon was in the mix too, providing Great Mills with one score.

The win made it two in a row for Westlake and bumps their season record up to 2-1. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 30.5 points over those games. As for Great Mills, their loss was their first of the season and also makes their record 2-1.
