Football Recap: Redondo Union Piles Up the Points Against Banning

Redondo Union had to skate by with only a two-point margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 29-point drubbing they dealt Banning on Friday. The Sea Hawks blew past the Pilots 35-6. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Sea Hawks had established a 22-point advantage.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Redondo Union to victory, but perhaps none more so than Rocky Martinez, who rushed for 138 yards and one score on only 12 carries. Martinez's longest rush was for an impressive 60 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Another player making a difference was Christian Zeno, who gained 80 total yards and two touchdowns.

Redondo Union didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Blake Wunderli and Bryson Fowler. Redondo Union got some further help from Brock Herrera: he picked up a sack and made ten total tackles (1.5 for loss).

The win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 2-3. As for Banning, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-2.

Redondo Union and Banning will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Sea Hawks are set to square off against their familiar foe Torrance at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Banning will challenge rival Gardena at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
