Softball Recap: Douglas County West Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Douglas County West extended their winning streak to four on Saturday, bumping them up to 15-8. They blew past the Raymond Central Mustangs 9-1. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Falcon also won the last time the pair played back in September of 2024.

The team relied heavily on Ericka Murphy, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last 13 matchups. Bella Zach was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

As for Raymond Central, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-11 record this season. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, they couldn't push the score so high this time.

On Raymond Central's side, they saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Makenna Hellerich, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run.

Douglas County West has already played their next game, a 16-5 victory against Fort Calhoun on the 27th. As for Raymond Central, they will be playing at home against Platteview at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The Mustangs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Trojans have averaged an impressive 9.6 runs per game this season.
