Papillion-LaVista came out on top against Millard South on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run fifth inning. The Monarchs blew past the Patriots 8-1. The win continues a trend for the Monarchs in their matchups with the Patriots: they've now won five in a row.

Kaylee Huffman spent all five innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits.

At the plate, Papillion-LaVista let Maizey Carpenter and Drew Trofholz run wild. Carpenter went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one double, while Trofholz went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those three hits gave Trofholz a new career-high. Allison Dibelka was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Papillion-LaVista was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .440. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Millard South only posted a batting average of .278.

The victory got Papillion-LaVista back to even at 1-1. As for Millard South, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Papillion-LaVista wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 7-3 win against Lincoln North Star on the 22nd. As for Millard South, they have also already played their next contest, a 10-7 loss against Blair on the 22nd.
