Basketball Game Preview: Oak Grove Eagles vs. Live Oak Acorns

Oak Grove and Live Oak are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2018, but not for long. The Oak Grove Eagles will head out to face off against the Live Oak Acorns at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Oak Grove has struggled recently with four defeats in a row, while Live Oak will arrive with eight straight victories.

Last Tuesday, Oak Grove came up short against Gilroy and fell 49-41.

Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Live Oak over Mt. Pleasant in every quarter on their way to victory on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Live Oak blew Mt. Pleasant out of the water with a 40-11 final score. The Acorns have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Live Oak pushed their record up to 14-5 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 26.8 points. As for Oak Grove, their loss dropped their record down to 2-9.

Oak Grove might still be hurting after the 45-25 defeat they got from Live Oak when the teams last played on January 9th. Can Oak Grove avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
