Softball Recap: Doherty Spartans vs. Vista Ridge Wolves
Doherty extended their losing streak to eight on Tuesday, dropping them down to 1-12. They came up short against the Vista Ridge Wolves, falling 16-4. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wolves this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-3 on Saturday.

Cayla Baker made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.
As for Vista Ridge, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games.
On Vista Ridge's side, Jocelynn Kalkman was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. That's the most doubles Kalkman has posted since back in August. Another player making a difference was Jordyn Carrillo-Clinton, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
Coming up, Doherty will welcome Smoky Hill at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Vista Ridge, they will venture away from home to square off against Rampart at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Rams have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed ten runs per game on average), something the Wolves will no doubt try to take advantage of.
