Basketball Recap: Orange Lutheran Gets Big Win over Higher-Ranked Phoenix Country Day

Orange Lutheran posted their closest win since December 18, 2023 on Thursday. They skirted past the Phoenix Country Day Eagles 55-53. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Lancers' disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 62nd in California, while the Eagles are ranked 14th in Arizona).

Orange Lutheran's win bumped their record up to 8-3. As for Phoenix Country Day, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Orange Lutheran will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Faith Lutheran at 4:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025. Phoenix Country Day and Glendale Prep Academy will compete for holiday cheer at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
