Recap: Rio Linda Knights vs. Center Cougars

Winning is just a little bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 23 to 7 on the offensive boards, a fact the Rio Linda Knights proved on Tuesday. They came out on top against Center by a score of 41-33. Given Rio Linda's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 505th, while Center is ranked 1034th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Rio Linda's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was LaRay Mitchell, who scored 15 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 steals. Mitchell hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyrri Mitchell, who scored 8 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals.

Center's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Aleena Castellanos, who scored 11 points, and Miessah Sagun who scored 10 points. The match was Sagun's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Madison Shirley Boudreaux, who scored 4 points along with 8 rebounds.

The victory makes it two in a row for Rio Linda and bumps their season record up to 4-2. As for Center, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-4.

Rio Linda's road trip will continue as they head out to face Whitney at 6:00 p.m. on December 7th. Whitney is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak. As for Center, they will head out on the road to face off against Inderkum at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Inderkum is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
