Basketball Recap: Girard Academic Music Program Comes Up Short

Girard Academic Music Program was the 60-26 winner over KIPP DuBois Collegiate Academy when they last played one another back in December of 2018, but their luck changed this time around. The Girard Academic Music Program Pioneers took a blow against KIPP DuBois Collegiate Academy on Wednesday, falling 50-22. The Pioneers' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it six in a row dating back to last season.

KIPP DuBois Collegiate Academy found their leader in sophomore Aasiyah Moore, who went 10 of 16 on her way to 23 points and six steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Moore has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Smith, who went 6 of 11 on her way to 13 points and six rebounds.

Girard Academic Music Program's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for KIPP DuBois Collegiate Academy, the win keeps them at an undefeated 6-0.

Girard Academic Music Program will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Strawberry Mansion at 3:15 p.m. on January 8, 2025. Girard Academic Music Program is facing Strawberry Mansion at the right time seeing as Strawberry Mansion is stuck on a five-game losing streak. KIPP DuBois Collegiate Academy also won't see the court for a while: their next contest is against Vaux Big Picture at 3:15 p.m. on January 8, 2025. The two teams have allowed few points on average, (Vaux Big Picture: 20.6, KIPP DuBois Collegiate Academy: 18) so any points scored will be well earned.
