Basketball Recap: Nevada Union's Win Ends Five-Game Losing Streak on the Road

El Dorado came into Friday's match looking for another win against Nevada Union, but Ava Ban wouldn't allow it. The Nevada Union Miners enjoyed a cozy 55-36 victory over the El Dorado Cougars on Friday thanks in part to Ban, who went 6 of 14 on her way to 15 points along with eight boards and three steals. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.

The team also got some help courtesy of Ellyse Halvorson, who posted seven points in addition to six assists and six steals. She is becoming a predictor of Nevada Union's success: when she posts at least five steals the team is 2-1 (and 1-5 when she doesn't).

Several Cougars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Keira Hennefer, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine boards. Another player making a difference was Emma Fulton, who had six points in addition to eight steals and five boards.

Nevada Union's win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-6. As for El Dorado, they now have a losing record at 5-6.

Nevada Union wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 69-34 defeat against Ponderosa on the 28th. As for El Dorado, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 36-32 victory against Roseville on the 28th.
