Baseball Game Preview: Lamar County Trojans vs. Putnam County War Eagles

For the second straight game, Lamar County will face off against Putnam County. Lamar County will head out to challenge Putnam County at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Lamar County has three straight victories, Putnam County has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

While Lamar County's win against Putnam County wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Lamar County narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Putnam County 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Trojans have posted against the War Eagles since February 19, 2019.

For Putnam County's part, they saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ethan Whatley, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Lamar County's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-6. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Putnam County, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-12.
