Basketball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Orland

Orland had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Corning Cardinals as they made off with a 49-24 victory. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 27-5.

Orland's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lillianna Rowe led the charge by almost dropping a double-double with ten points and nine rebounds. Rowe is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Abigail Halsey, who posted eight points and 14 boards.

Orland's win bumped their record up to 18-7. As for Corning, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 11 of their last 13 games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 4-17 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Orland will venture away from home to take on Gridley at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Gridley has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Corning, they are taking a road trip to face off against Las Plumas at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Las Plumas will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something Corning surely won't give up without a fight.
