Baseball Recap: Spalding Comes Up Short

After soaring to 11 runs the game before, Spalding was a bit more limited in their match on Friday. They lost 8-2 to the Upson-Lee Knights. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Jaguars of the 16-5 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

Spalding saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Stephen Gilbert, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Spalding has also been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season. As for Upson-Lee, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-9 record this season.

While Spalding had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
