Preview: Helix Highlanders vs. Mission Bay Buccaneers

The Helix Highlanders are on the road again on Monday and play against the Mission Bay Buccaneers at 5:00 p.m. on December 18th. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Helix struggled with assists on Saturday (Eastlake had seven more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Helix took a 53-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of Eastlake. Helix has not had much luck with Eastlake recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

Helix's defeat came about despite a quality game from Valerie Marquez, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 14 rebounds. Those 14 rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordyn McMillan, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.

Even though they lost, Helix were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Mission Bay had to suffer through a rough 65-17 loss at the hands of Segerstrom. Mission Bay was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 44-8.

Helix's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Mission Bay, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-7.
