Basketball Recap: Riverview Beats Apollo Ridge for Their Fourth Straight Win

Riverview waltzed into their matchup on Monday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They strolled past the Apollo Ridge Vikings with points to spare, taking the game 51-33. Given the Raiders' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 269th, while the Vikings are ranked 625th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Riverview to victory, but perhaps none more so than Katerina Tsambis, who went 10 for 23 en route to 27 points along with five assists and three steals. Tsambis' evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Isabel Chaparro was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 17 points and nine boards.

Riverview smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

Riverview's victory bumped their record up to 11-3. As for Apollo Ridge, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-10.

Riverview will head out to square off against Frazier at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Apollo Ridge, they will square off against Jeannette at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Apollo Ridge is facing Jeannette at the right time seeing as Jeannette is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
