Football Recap: Cozad Keeps Adams Central's Under Pressure + How To Watch

Cozad lost against Adams Central back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Haymakers fell 20-10 to the Patriots. While the Haymakers had to settle for second, they closed the game well in the third quarter, where they outscored the Patriots 7-0.

When it comes to explaining why Cozad lost, don't look at Olliver Davis. Despite the final result, he rushed for 84 yards and one score.

Don't try to pin the team's loss on the defense: they kept the trenches locked down and allowed a mere 2.2 yards per carry. While three picked up at least three total tackles, Davis stood above the rest. He rushed for 84 yards and one TD. Cozad's ground attack was stronger, having averaged 4.5.

Cozad's defense didn't let Jackson Foster, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Ashton Osborn, Harrison Edeal, and Myles Ide, who each picked up one sack apiece. Osborn was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making eight total tackles (3.0 for loss).

Adams Central can attribute much of their success to Foster, who threw for 179 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 72.7% of his passes, and also punched in one rushing score. The Patriots also got a significant boost from Riley Propp, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 84 yards.

Cozad now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Adams Central, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-5.

Coming up, Cozad will be playing in front of their home fans against Holdrege at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Haymakers will be up against the Dusters' rather soft defense (which has allowed 38.14 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Adams Central, they will venture away from home to challenge Lincoln Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Patriots are facing the Crusaders at the right time seeing as the Crusaders are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
