Preview: Burroughs Bears vs. Hoover Tornados
Burroughs is 10-0 against Hoover since January of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Burroughs Bears just played last night, but they'll still head out to face the Hoover Tornados at 3:45 p.m. on December 21st. Burroughs is looking to tack on another W to their five-game streak on the road.
On Wednesday, the stars were shining brightly for Burroughs in a 57-40 victory over Simi Valley. Given Burroughs' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 145th, while Simi Valley is ranked 716th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Burroughs got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Claire Hackney out in front who scored 21 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Elizabeth Amoroso, who scored 13 points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, Hoover's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their eighth straight loss. Their tough 48-22 defeat to Muir might stick with them for a while. Hoover has not had much luck with Muir recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
Burroughs' victory bumped their record up to 10-1. As for Hoover, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8.
Everything came up roses for Burroughs against Hoover when the teams last played back in January as the squad secured a 70-15 win. With Burroughs ahead 39-3 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
