Soccer Game Preview: Roybal vs. Mendez

The Roybal Titans will square off against the Mendez Jaguars at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Roybal's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They were the clear victor by an 8-0 margin over Contreras. Given the Titans' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 426th, while the Cobras are ranked 1129th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Mendez had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.1 goals) and they went ahead and made it nine on Wednesday. They were the clear victor by a 5-0 margin over the Cobras.

Roybal's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-1-1. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up two goals over those five matchups. As for Mendez, their victory bumped their record up to 9-1-2.

Everything went Roybal's way against Mendez in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, as Roybal made off with a 4-1 win. Will Roybal repeat their success, or does Mendez have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
