Preview: Commodore Perry Panthers vs. West Middlesex Big Reds
Commodore Perry is 0-10 against West Middlesex since January of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Commodore Perry Panthers have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the West Middlesex Big Reds at 7:15 p.m. on December 18th. Hopefully Commodore Perry focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 28 on Thursday.
Last Thursday, Commodore Perry lost to Jamestown at home by a decisive 51-35 margin. Commodore Perry has not had much luck with Jamestown recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Despite the defeat, Commodore Perry got a solid performance out of Skyleigh McCloskey, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 14 rebounds. McCloskey also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Jazlyn Boyles was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with eight rebounds.
Even though they lost, Commodore Perry were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, West Middlesex had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They breezed by Sharpsville on the road to the tune of 70-42.
Commodore Perry bumped their record down to 0-4 with that loss, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 18.8 points per game. As for West Middlesex, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
Commodore Perry was dealt a bruising 56-16 defeat at the hands of West Middlesex when the teams last played back in January. Can Commodore Perry avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
