Volleyball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Douglas County West

Douglas County West waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the Fort Calhoun Pioneers by a score of 3-1. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-0 two weeks ago.

Douglas County West had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 15-25, 25-14, 25-20, 25-17.

Douglas County West can attribute much of their success to Abby Rayer, who had nine digs and one assist.

Douglas County West was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 16 aces. That's the most aces they've posted since back in September of 2024.

Ella Bouwman and Claire Pearson certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Bouwman had 11 digs and two aces, while Pearson had 15 digs.

Douglas County West's win bumped their record up to 15-11. As for Fort Calhoun, their loss ended a three-match streak of away wins and brought them to 16-10.

Coming up, Douglas County West is taking a road trip to square off against Louisville at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Fort Calhoun, they will welcome Syracuse at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
