Football Game Preview: Cedar Vale/Dexter Spartans vs. West Elk Patriots

Cedar Vale/Dexter hasn't had much luck against West Elk recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Spartans will be playing at home against the Patriots at 7:00 p.m. West Elk took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Cedar Vale/Dexter, who comes in off a win.

Cedar Vale/Dexter hadn't beaten Sedan on the road since September 28, 2018 but that history sure didn't bother them on Friday. The Spartans secured a 28-22 W over the Devils.

Cedar Vale/Dexter's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Cooper Criss, who threw for 221 yards and three TDs, and also rushed for 42 yards and one score. Royce Potter was another key player, picking up 149 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Meanwhile, West Elk fell victim to Oswego and their airtight defense on Friday. They had to suffer through a 49-0 loss at the hands of the Indians. Having soared to a lofty 44 points in the game before, the Patriots' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Cedar Vale/Dexter's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for West Elk, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

Cedar Vale/Dexter was dealt a bruising 64-14 defeat at the hands of West Elk in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Spartans were down 50-14.
