Baseball Recap: East Laurens Comes Up Short

After some red-hot attacks at the plate in their last three matchups, East Laurens finally came back down to earth on Tuesday. They lost 10-1 to the Washington County Golden Hawks. The Falcons' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Conner Lawrence put in work while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because East Laurens is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-10 otherwise. Lawrence was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one triple.

Lawrence wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Nollan Scott, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

East Laurens' defeat dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Washington County, their win was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. East Laurens will welcome Hawkinsville at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Red Devils have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.35 runs per game on average), something the Falcons will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Washington County, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Thomson at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
