Basketball Game Preview: Buena Park Coyotes vs. Segerstrom Jaguars

Having just played yesterday, the Buena Park Coyotes will head out on the road to face off against the Segerstrom Jaguars at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Buena Park sitting on four straight victories and Segerstrom on three.

On Wednesday, Buena Park humbled Temescal Canyon with an 81-47 victory. The Coyotes have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 matches by 22 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Segerstrom duked it out withValencia on Thursday. In a tight game that could have gone either way, Segerstrom made off with a 46-45 win over Valencia.

Segerstrom's win came from a few key players Buena Park will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was April Valenciano, who posted 12 points in addition to seven boards and five steals. She has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Stephanie Valenciano, who earned eight points along with seven rebounds and three steals.

Segerstrom smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in seven consecutive contests.

Buena Park is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.2 points per game. As for Segerstrom, they pushed their record up to 19-6 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home.
