Softball Recap: Worth County Wins Going Away Against Fitzgerald

Worth County barely beat Fitzgerald the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Rams blew past the Purple Hurricane 10-3 on Tuesday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last six times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Laurie Pritchard made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out 12 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Those 12 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Karlee Mathews was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Isabelle Hancock, who earned one RBI, one run, and one stolen base.

Worth County's win bumped their record up to 7-11. As for Fitzgerald, they are on a 13-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-19.

Worth County will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Purple Hurricane: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
