Football Recap: Del Norte Takes a Loss

Del Norte extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to five on Saturday, dropping them down to 0-2. They were outmatched by the Albuquerque Academy Chargers and fell 51-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Knights of the 56-6 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in August of 2024.

As for Albuquerque Academy, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 21 points this season.

Albuquerque Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Finn Thompson, who picked up 91 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. That's the most receiving yards Thompson has posted since back in August of 2024. Gage Conway was another key pass catcher, picking up 24 receiving yards and one score.

Looking ahead, Del Norte is taking a road trip to face off against Manzano at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Albuquerque Academy, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Hope Christian at 7:00 p.m.
