Soccer Game Preview: James Lick vs. Mt. Pleasant

The James Lick Comets will head out on the road to face off against the Mt. Pleasant Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. James Lick will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

If Mt. Pleasant heads into halftime all tied up, they better play a good second half: that's when James Lick took over last week. James Lick sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over Del Mar on Tuesday. The Comets wouldn't have won without Delylah Guerrero, who scored the game-winner.

Meanwhile, Mt. Pleasant might've scored the first goal on Tuesday, but it was Overfelt who claimed the real prize. Mt. Pleasant fell just short of Overfelt by a score of 3-2. The Cardinals have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Mt. Pleasant's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for James Lick, their victory bumped their record up to 6-4-1.

Everything went James Lick's way against Mt. Pleasant in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, as James Lick made off with a 5-2 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for James Lick since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
