Basketball Recap: Stephenson Takes a Loss

Stephenson scored the most points they've had this season on Thursday, but it wasn't enough. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 65-64 to the Oxford Chargers. The Jaguars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Chargers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2021.

Despite the loss, Stephenson still got an impressive performance from Antonio King, who dropped a double-double with 30 points and 11 boards. With that strong performance, King is now averaging an impressive 15.3 points per game. Cameron Ramsey was another key player, going 5-for-10 on his way to 12 points and six rebounds.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Oxford to victory, but perhaps none more so than Miles Bledsoe, who posted 29 points. Another player making a difference was Jack Tatum, who scored 15 points and three steals.

Stephenson's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Oxford, their victory bumped their record up to 13-1.

Stephenson wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 44-43 loss against Shiloh on the 20th. As for Oxford, they have also already played their next game, a 67-41 defeat against Sandy Creek on the 19th.
